Abstract

This report documents the analytical protocols and analytical data sets for high-precision radiochemical assay (HP-RCA) of nine high-burnup Zircalloy-clad UO2 fuel specimens performed by the Nuclear Analytical Chemical (NAC) Section in the Chemical Sciences Division (CSD) at the US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The HP-RCAs were performed using several analytical methodologies developed by the NAC to minimize the total uncertainties of the experimental results. The analysis of the first of the nine specimens was funded by DOE. This first specimen was used as a pilot sample to test the developed analytical protocols. This pilot test allowed the analysts to gain experience before analyzing the other eight specimens, an effort funded by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
