Abstract
An analytical model to evaluate steady state performance of electronically commuted permanent magnet brushless DC motor is presented. The presented model is valid for any shape of back emfandfor both 120° and 180° modes of inverter operation. This model provides a rapid means of determining the drive performance in the initial design stages. The developed model is verified by two different motors.
