Abstract

Steady-state analysis of a PWM dc-to-dc two-phase buck converter is carried out for continuous conduction mode. Important relations giving the component values and device stresses are derived. The theoretical design has been validated with the aid of P-SPICE simulation. Important features such as reduced magnitude and increased frequency of output voltage ripple are evaluated. A design example is given. This paper presents a detailed basic analysis of polyphase operation which is crucial for understanding and development of future polyphase converters with advanced features.
