Abstract

Sophisticated techniques for unstructured simulation of a wingtip vortex were developed and demonstrated on stationary NACA0012 airfoil. The techniques were also exemplified for flapping wing propulsion. Flow parameters were computed at 40 percent chord length down stream to study near field behavior of the vortex. A good agreement of tangential velocity along the vortex core with experiment data was achieved. Surface pressure coefficient, vortex core pressure and vortex diffusion were also found matching with experimental data.
