N2 - We combined measurements of the spoken word recognition time with simultaneous EEG recording from the subjects. Alpha waves of all our subjects were sharp and we could accurately detect time instants of the tips of the waves even when the shape of the waves varied. Time intervals between the tips were constant during 5–10 alpha waves. We observed that these trains of oscillations change their period just at the moments of the word sound onset and when the subject recognized the word and confirmed this by pressing the button. This experiment shows that alpha rhythm is related to or even organizes the complex process of the spoken word recognition.
