Abstract

With the installation of a digital I&C system through the DOE NEUP infrastructure grant, the PUR-1 reactor is positioned to offer additional reactor operations experience to University students. Advanced experiments such as measuring the reactivity worth of reactor components, fuel loading operations, power coefficients, and ramped reactivity insertion will provide enhanced experience in reactor operations to students; experience that will serve them well as they enter careers in the nuclear industry.
