Abstract

Thinned stepped frequency waveforms were introduced in the past for the purpose of furnishing existing radars with a high range resolution capability, acceptable for imaging. This paper discusses the practical problems of calibrating and cohering the radar returns and, in particular, the application of the various adaptive beamforming algorithms for the special case of thinned stepped frequency waveforms.
