Abstract
The objective of the study presented in this paper was to determine the radioactive element release response of two candidate fusion reactor structural materials (PCA and HT-9 steels). The modes of release are corrosion product loss (spallation) and vaporization from the surface during exposure to environments simulating those resulting from air and water leaks into the primary helium coolant of a fusion reactor blanket.
