Abstract

According to the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) operations plan the facility components are replaced, when they reach their end-of-life. These components must be safely removed, placed in a container for storage, and transported from the site. In order to classify components and suggest appropriate shipping packages an accurate estimate of the radionuclide inventory is performed. After choice for the container is made, it is being modelled with the facility component, placed inside, and transport calculations are performed to ensure that the shippment is compliant with the waste management regulations.
