Abstract

The absolute measurements of cross-sections for threshold electron impact excitation of sodium-like and magnesium-like ions using an electron energy loss technique were presented. The measurements were compared with the previous experimental measurements on the isoelectronic ions and also with the theoretical results. For optically allowed excitations, the agreement between theory and experiment was very good.
