Abstract
A speckle based fiber optic vibration sensor using subcarrier intensity modulation of the laser light source has been investigated. This system allows the normally low frequency vibrating modal components, such as those found in large structures, to be frequency upshifted thereby reducing the degradation effects caused by low frequency noise. A theoretical analysis of this scheme is presented along with experimental results.
