Abstract

This paper proposes a solar photovoltaic and battery-integrated drive system for light electric vehicles using a sensor-less vector-controlled permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motor (PMaSyRM). A bidirectional DC-DC converter supports regenerative braking and stabilizes the DC link voltage. Motor control is achieved through a lookup table-based vector control strategy that adapts to inverter constraints. Rotor position is estimated using a hybrid approach combining a hyperbolic function-based super-twisting sliding mode observer, a hybrid second-third-order generalized integrator, and a pseudo-linear enhanced phase-locked loop. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method reduces chattering, eliminates DC offsets, and ensures accurate rotor position detection across varying back EMF levels, enhancing the drive system's efficiency and performance.
