N2 - This article presents a method for bounding errors that arise from interactions between components in a variety of simulation contexts. The proposed method combines key elements of the quantized state technique for numerical integration and the generalized discrete event system specification. Specifically, this method quantizes a model's output variables while allowing its internal variables to evolve by any suitable technique. This approach bounds the global error in proportion to the quantization threshold for simulations of networks of stable, linear systems. The proposed technique is particularly suitable for combining existing simulation models into federated, multi-rate simulations.
