Abstract

The synthesis of the first triptycenocrown ethers was achieved by two-step procedure which includes condensation of 9,10-bis(chloromethyl)anthracene with polyethylene glycols to yield the intermediate 9,10-anthracenocrown ethers, and subsequent cycloaddilion of benzyne leading to the title compounds. The structures of 9,10-tnplyceno-25-crown-7 (1) and its thallium nitrate complex (Tl-1) were determined by X-Ray diffraction analysis and NMR spectroscopy.
