A 350 MWe integral lead reactor for a sustainable energy generation

Abstract

The ILR-350 integrated lead cooled reactor is presented. The neutronic characteristics and the use of passive devices promise high safety against the TOP and LOF accidents. The adoption of an efficient partition/transmutation scheme possibilities a clean technology from the waste management point of view. A simplified primary system and a modular fabrication are proposed to lower the plant costs. An estimate of the number of electrorefining cells necessary to make one fuel recharge batch resulted in six cells. The reactor response to basic postulated accidents must still be established.
