The American Science Cloud (AmSC) is a federated, science-optimized cloud-like hardware and software infrastructure that unifies data, AI models, high-performance computing (HPC), science instruments, andDOE's world-leadingscientificuser facilities. AmSC is designed and built to accelerate mission delivery. AmSC federates rather than centralizes; AI workloads can run where scientific instrument- and simulation-scale data are generated; scientific workflows can move seamlessly under common identity and policy; and all workloads benefit from optimized performance, clear accountability, and predictable cost. As the backbone for the Transformational AI Models Consortium (ModCon), AmSC willunderpinrigorous and efficient curation of DOE's scientific data, provide scalable training and inference environments, and offer secure enclaves for sensitive or controlled work. Commercial cloud and industry partners will augment AmSC with capabilities, while the backbone remains vendor-neutral and instrument-proximal to ensure resilience, cost efficiency, and compliance. Ensuring that the DOE laboratories' critical strengths are fully leveraged across all science and applied office domains is critical to AmSC's success. Through AmSC, DOE's unique multidomain science and security data assets will ensure US leadership in AI model development and deployment.

By combining intuitive interfaces, scalable services, and DOE's unparalleled scientific assets, AmSCembeds AI at the core of scientific research toincrease the speed and impact of scientific discovery. AmSC will also accelerate AI advances by exposing data and workflow services through a unified AmSC application programing interface. The Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) program has taken important early steps to design common interfaces and policies between DOE facilities, and AmSC will extend and adapt these services to all DOE infrastructure.

Services provided by the AmSC Platform will support AI acceleration—from dataset discovery to advanced orchestration of AI-driven workflows and intelligent agents—and will make complex distributed resources accessible through intuitive and interactive means. Data Services will ensure DOE's vital data assets are FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and AI-ready. Model Services will enable access to state-of-the-art models (developed in collaboration with ModCon) that can be used in conjunction with DOE data assets to produce highly tailored AI tools for scientific discovery. At-Scale AmSC Services will harness DOE leadership computing systems and cloud resources for extreme-scale simulation, model training, and inference. Infrastructure Services will underpin all AmSC science services by providing secure and uniform access to compute, storage, and networking resources across DOE and cloud partners. These capabilities will allow workflows to seamlessly span sites. Secure enclaves will protect sensitive data, while observability will ensure transparency, reproducibility, and compliance.

The AmSC Platform builds on lessons learned from the ASCR-led HPC COVID-19 Consortium and the successes and challenges of the Exascale Computing Project. Drawing on these experiences, the AmSC Platform aligns the power of DOE supercomputers and the unparalleled scientific data assets of DOE's exceptional facilities with the emerging, AI-driven scientific revolution—all while leveraging cloud and industry partnerships for scale and resilience. The AmSC Platform will enable AI-ready data, model reuse, and integrating simulation and AI at scale. Trusted execution across facilities will create a coherent environment that will accelerate discovery, simplify collaboration, and dramatically advance US scientific productivity and leadership.
