Project Details
Description
Concentrating solar-thermal power (CSP) systems currently use nitrate salts as the heat-transfer fluid and thermal energy storage media. Molten chloride salts could enable higher operating temperatures for future CSP plants, leading to more-efficient power cycles. This project is developing a model for an innovative plant configuration using chloride salts, using a single storage tank that is potentially much lower cost than existing concepts.
