ORNL participation in OFES Center for Plasma Edge Simulation II

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The work to be performed is part of the extension of the Office of Fusion Energy Sciences (OFES) - Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research (OASCR) project "Center for Plasma Edge Simulations." ORNL will carry out the following activities during the course of this project: (1) study plasma-surface interaction and atomic physics data, improve hydrogen molecule physics data used by the neutral transport module, and aid in upgrading surface physics in DEGAS 2; (2) assist in optimizing the XGC codes; and (3) coordinate data management related tasks, develop data monitoring tools, and work on an integrated framework for data analysis and visualization. The work continues that performed in FY06-FY08 under ORNL FWPs ERAT133 and ERKJSP4 and will be coordinated through the full CPES reupdateal proposal submitted to OFES by the Principal Investigator C. S. Chang of New York University.
