Project Details
Description
We propose a research and development activity focused on addressing critical filesystem performance gaps aimed at delivering effective petascale computing resources to enable the Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing. We have focused our efforts on development and engineering that will enable the Department of Energy Office of Science to deploy a cost-effective delivery of the supercomputing portion of the American Competitiveness Initiative roadmap outlined by the President, the Energy Secretary, and Dr. Orbach. We will do this by focusing on developing a cost-effective 1 terabyte(TB)/s filesystem in 2008 and a 10TB/s filesystem by 2010, and by producing a roadmap to a 100TB/s filesystem by 2013.
